71 Lifesaving Stories: The Success of Our Huamancaca Chico Campaign

On May 13 & 14, 2026

We are thrilled to share a wonderful update from our recent spay and neuter campaign in Huamancaca Chico, which took place over two intensive, rewarding days on May 13 and 14.

Thanks to an incredible team effort and the unwavering support of our global community, it was a massive success.

Together, we were able to provide life-changing sterilization surgeries to a total of 71 beloved pets:

  • 43 Dogs

  • 28 Cats

Overwhelming Community Response

Our core mission for this campaign was to prioritize the most vulnerable pets and help families with limited financial resources. However, when we arrived, the response from the local community was completely overwhelming.

Dozens of families turned out, eager to seek help and do right by their animals. While Pichuberry actively promotes responsible pet ownership — and always encourages those with greater financial means to utilize regular local veterinary services — this campaign proved once again that access to affordable, high-quality care remains a critical hurdle for many families.

The most important takeaway?

Seventy-one animals received top-tier medical care, directly preventing future suffering, street homelessness, and hundreds of unwanted litters in the neighborhood.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Sponsors

We must also explicitly recognize that this vital outreach was made possible through the generous funding and support of the Marchig Animal Welfare Trust (UK).

Their international partnership allows us to penetrate vulnerable, underserved communities and deliver these life-changing sterilization services to animals that might otherwise go their entire lives without seeing a veterinarian.

It Takes a Village: Team & Partner Spotlights

A campaign of this scale requires incredible logistics, deep trust within the community, and dedicated professionals.

This initiative was masterfully coordinated in the Chupaca–Huancayo area by our phenomenal volunteer, Yulisa Balvin. Her dedication on the ground is what transforms our mission into reality.

We were also proud to partner once again with Veterinaria Chacón, a highly valued Pichuberry veterinary partner whose medical expertise, compassion, and hard work ensured every surgery was performed safely and with the utmost care. We are deeply grateful for their tireless commitment over these two days.

Moving Forward Together

To everyone who shares our posts, donates, or cheers us on from afar: thank you!

Every single campaign we execute brings us one step closer to a world with fewer homeless animals, less suffering on the streets, and more compassionate communities.

Thank you for walking alongside us on this mission. We couldn't do it without you!
