After a year of facing closed doors, Pichuberry successfully launched its very first grassroots sterilization campaign in Yanamarca, completing 16 life-saving surgeries. Sparked by a single vital conversation regarding a local dog named Perlita, this milestone campaign was made entirely free to the community through the generous funding of the Fondation Brigitte Bardot and the medical partnership of Veterinaria Espinoza, planting a long-term seed of hope and change in the region.

After being abandoned in Jauja’s main plaza in critical medical condition, a young dog named Trisha was rescued by dedicated Pichuberry volunteers. Following months of veterinary treatment, foster care, and patient waiting at Casa Aurora, Trisha’s journey came to a beautiful conclusion in June 2026 when she was adopted into a loving home in Masma alongside her best friend, Julie.

After surviving years of abandonment and dangerous street life to protect her puppies, a resilient dog named Mocha walked all the way back to Casa Aurora because it was the first place she ever felt safe, and she is now ready to find her permanent forever family.

After waiting three years at a bus terminal while watching her puppies get adopted, a resilient street dog named Layka has been rescued following a medical emergency and urgently needs our community's help to fund her life-altering surgery and find her a forever home.

Through a completely self-funded effort, Pichuberry launched its first campaign in Pilcomayo, successfully sterilizing 97 pets over two days and uncovering a profound community need for accessible veterinary care along the Río Cunas corridor.

Thanks to the vital support of the Marchig Animal Welfare Trust, our team successfully sterilized 57 dogs in the community of Hualhuas, Huancayo. Despite deep financial hardships, local families showed incredible dedication by bringing multiple pets to break the cycle of suffering. While local challenges like a nearby dumpsite stray population remind us of the complex work ahead, the overwhelming community support reinforces our commitment to return and continue fighting for a compassionate future in the Andes.

Our recent spay and neuter campaign in Sapallanga successfully sterilized 24 cats and 17 dogs, focusing on low-income families and vulnerable pets. Thanks to door-to-door community outreach by local volunteers and vital funding support from the Marchig Animal Welfare Trust, the initiative provided critical care and promoted responsible pet ownership education. This collaborative effort continues to save thousands of animal lives across the Peruvian Andes.

Our two-day spay and neuter campaign in Huamancaca Chico successfully sterilized 71 vulnerable pets, preventing future street homelessness and providing critical veterinary care to families in need thanks to the coordination of Yulisa Balvin, Veterinaria Chacón, and the Marchig Animal Welfare Trust.

On May 9, 2026, Pichuberry braved heavy rains to complete a vital sterilization campaign in Acolla, Peru, safely sterilizing 43 cats and dogs. Supported by the Marchig Animal Welfare Trust and local coordinator Srta. Vanessa, this initiative highlights the power of community responsibility in preventing animal suffering and building a compassionate future.

The Sapallanga campaign marked a milestone as Pichuberry's first visit to this remote farming community, where local leadership and the support of the Marchig Animal Welfare Trust helped sterilize 68 pets and sparked such overwhelming demand that a return mission is already scheduled for May 23rd.

The Tunamarca campaign transformed initial community hesitation into a meaningful success, sterilizing 39 pets and building the vital foundation of trust and education needed for a confirmed return mission this June.

The Matahuasi campaign successfully sterilized 65 pets in one day through community collaboration and the support of the Marchig Animal Welfare Trust, providing a vital step toward ending the cycle of abandonment in the region.
