A First in Sapallanga: 68 Pets Sterilized and a Community Transformed

On April 25, 2026

For the first time, Pichuberry traveled to the beautiful, humble farming community of Sapallanga, just outside of Huancayo.

This area is difficult to access, and veterinary care is a rare luxury for the families who live here.

But thanks to the Marchig Animal Welfare Trust, we were able to bring help right to their doorstep.

The Power of Local Leaders

This day was a masterclass in community organization, led by two incredible local teachers, Magali and Annie.

They did the "heavy lifting"— coordinating the space, registering families, and ensuring the day ran smoothly.

It was a beautiful reminder that when local leaders and international support unite, magic happens.

By the Numbers

In just one day, our medical team worked tirelessly to help:

  • 37 Cats sterilized

  • 31 Dogs sterilized

  • 68 Total families supported

The Call for More

While we celebrated these 68 pets, the day revealed a staggering reality: over 150 families arrived, hoping for care.

This clear sign of need has moved us to act immediately.

What’s Next?

  • The Return: We are officially heading back to Sapallanga on May 23rd for a second campaign!

  • Bridging the Gap: For those who couldn't wait, our Maddy Program is already in motion. We are referring pets directly to our partner clinic in Huancayo this very week to ensure no one is left behind.

This is what happens when compassion turns into action. Thank you for being part of this journey!
