Building Trust in Tunamarca: How Curiosity Turned into Action

On April 18, 2026

Sometimes, the most successful campaigns aren’t just about the numbers — they’re about the momentum.

When we first arrived in Tunamarca, registration was quiet.

With only 22 pets signed up, we knew we were facing a common challenge in rural communities: the hesitation that comes with learning something new.

But as the morning sun rose, something shifted. Curious neighbors began to gather. Doubts turned into questions, and questions turned into action.

The "Momentum" Results

Despite the slow start, the community showed up in a big way. We nearly doubled our expectations:

  • 21 Cats sterilized

  • 18 Dogs sterilized

  • 39 Lives changed forever!

A Partnership of Compassion

None of this would be possible without the Marchig Animal Welfare Trust (UK).

Their support allows us to bridge the gap between we want to help and we can help.

This isn't just medical care; it’s a commitment to compassion.

No One Left Behind

When the crowd grew to 50 pets, we knew we had to act fast.

While 11 animals weren't eligible for surgery that day due to age or nursing, they are already on the path to care.

Thanks to Maddy’s Program, these pets are being referred to our partner clinic in Jauja so they don't have to wait for the next campaign to be safe.

The Best News? We’re Going Back!

The community has spoken, and we are listening. Mark your calendars: 📅 June 20, 2026 — We return to Tunamarca for Round Two!

Tunamarca taught us that change starts with a single conversation. We are so proud to be part of this community’s journey toward responsible pet care.
