Rescue Spotlight: Trisha’s Journey to Masma
🚨 SUMMER 2026 UPDATE: Trisha is Thriving!
We are overjoyed to share some wonderful news about our favorite duo, Julie and Trisha! We recently conducted a follow-up visit to see how they are settling into their new life in Masma, and we are thrilled to report that both girls are doing absolutely wonderfully. They are happy, bursting with health, and completely well-adjusted to their new surroundings.
This happy ending is made even sweeter by the beautiful connection we share with their new family. This incredible adopter previously opened their heart and home to another beloved Pichuberry rescue, Charlotte! Seeing these dogs continue to flourish together in a safe, loving environment is the greatest reward our team could ask for.
As a token of our deep gratitude and a courtesy to support the family during this transition, we were delighted to deliver 25 kilograms of high-quality dog food during our visit.

Trisha’s story began where so many heartbreaks do — in a crowded public square.
One afternoon, she simply appeared in the Plaza de Armas of Jauja, entirely alone. Nobody knew where she had come from.
We immediately posted her photo across local social media networks, hoping someone was searching for her, but no one ever came forward to claim her.
It was clear Trisha was in desperate trouble. She was shockingly thin, her ribs pressing visibly against her skin. More concerning still, she was actively bleeding from her mammary glands.
A Second Chance Interrupted
As fate would have it, Pichuberry was hosting an adoption event in the plaza that very day. Our volunteers, Jeny and Mrs. Melba, spotted the fragile dog and immediately stepped in.
Seeing Trisha's condition, a local woman named María was moved to pity and offered to take her home.
We were filled with hope, believing Trisha had found an instant shortcut to a safe recovery. Sadly, the relief was short-lived.
When our team tried to follow up, María was unreachable. Just a few days later, our hearts sank: Trisha reappeared in the plaza, right back where she started—still thin, still frightened, and still completely exposed to the elements.
Failure Was Not an Option
Knowing Trisha couldn’t survive much longer on her own, Jeny made a definitive choice. She refused to leave her behind a second time.
Jeny brought Trisha into her own home and immediately rushed her to Veterinaria Espinoza for urgent medical evaluation.
The veterinary team determined that Trisha’s physical state and swollen mammary glands were signs that she had recently nursed a litter or suffered a miscarriage.
Our team searched the surrounding areas extensively, but tragically, no puppies were ever found.
With Pichuberry covering her medical expenses and Jeny providing dedicated foster care, Trisha finally began to heal, both physically and emotionally.
The Long Road to "Forever"
Trisha proved to be a resilient, sweet soul, estimated to be just about a year old.
Once she made a full recovery, she began attending our regular adoption events in Jauja.
Month after month, she wagged her tail and showed off her affectionate, playful personality, but weekend after weekend, potential adopters passed her by.
In March, to give her a change of scenery and continued stability, Trisha moved to Casa Aurora, where she made new canine friends and waited patiently for the right family to notice her.
Then, after months of waiting, the breakthrough we had all been praying for arrived.
Double the Joy in Masma
In June 2026, the long wait came to an end in the most beautiful way possible.
Trisha didn't just find a home — she found one alongside her best friend, Julie!
The inseparable duo were adopted together, packing their bags to start a brand new chapter of their lives in Masma.
Today, Trisha is no longer the frightened, fragile dog who wandered into the plaza looking for a savior.
She is loved. She is safe. She is finally home.
